Knowledge and Understanding
The assessment of learning outcomes is carried out through one or more written examinations (multiple written examinations in the case of midterm tests) and an oral examination (the latter being optional and/or at the instructor’s discretion).
The written examination includes both Programming exercises and Algorithms exercises, with a balanced distribution between the two areas.
The oral examination (optional and/or at the instructor’s discretion) consists of questions aimed at exploring specific topics covered in the course syllabus (including topics addressed in the written examination), with the objective of assessing the student's ability to analyze more detailed and specialized aspects of the subject matter.
The final grade for this 6-CFU module, expressed on a 30-point scale, takes into account both the written examinations and the oral examination.
For the final grade of the 9-CFU course, the assessment of the laboratory module is also considered. This module provides an additional bonus score ranging from 0 to 3 points, depending on the evaluation obtained during the discussion of the laboratory project (0 points correspond to a grade of 18/30, while 3 points correspond to 30/30).
Ability to Apply Knowledge and Understanding
During the examinations, students’ ability to apply the knowledge acquired in the course is assessed. In particular, students are required to demonstrate their ability to write object-oriented programs in Python and to analyze and design efficient data structures and algorithms.
