Assessment Methods

Assessment is based on a mandatory written examination and, where deemed appropriate by the instructor or requested by the student, an additional oral examination.
The written examination, graded on a 30-point scale, is designed to assess both the understanding of theoretical concepts and the ability to apply the methodologies and tools presented during the course. It consists of two parts: one devoted to database design, requiring the construction of conceptual schemas using the Entity–Relationship model and their translation into the relational model; the other devoted to data manipulation, requiring the formulation of queries for retrieving and processing information stored in a database.
The oral examination, when taken, provides an opportunity to further assess the student's theoretical knowledge, reasoning abilities, and methodological skills acquired during the course.

Students with disabilities, specific learning disorders (SLD), or other special educational needs are entitled to individualized examination arrangements, in accordance with current regulations and the provisions set out in the University's Student Services Charter:

These arrangements are subject to prior agreement with the course instructor. To request compensatory measures and/or accommodations, students must contact the CON_TE_STO Service by following the procedure described in the Student Services Charter.

Students are encouraged to contact the instructor during the course or, in any case, well in advance of the examination date to discuss the examination format and the accommodations that may be provided.

For guidance and information on the support services offered by the University, students may contact the Department's Disability and Inclusion Coordinator: Prof. Domenico Raucci (mailto:domenico.raucci@unich.it)
