Secondo Semestre (15/02/2027 - 31/05/2027)

Syllabus

Course Objectives

The course's goal is to give students the skills they need to comprehend optimization issues involving systems with a variety of variables and constraints.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge and comprehension skills - Mastering the mathematical tools necessary for understanding optimization problems in relation to data management and analysis.

Knowledge and applied comprehension skills - Set up an optimization problem in formal terms, compare different solution strategies. - Use the above mathematical model to solve the problem - Reinterpret the solution found in applicative terms

Course Prerequisites

The student should know algebraic expressions and should be able to solve equations and inequalities of first and second degrees.

Assessment Methods

The examination is written and lasts approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. It consists of open-ended questions covering both theoretical topics and the types of exercises presented during the course. The examination is designed to assess the student's logical and deductive reasoning abilities, as well as the computational skills acquired throughout the course.
Grades are awarded on a scale from 0 to 30, with 30 being the highest mark.
Two midterm examinations are scheduled, each graded on the same 0–30 scale. The final grade is determined as the arithmetic mean of the marks obtained in the two midterm examinations.
Students with disabilities, specific learning disorders (SLDs), or other special educational needs may receive individualized accommodations during examinations, in accordance with current legislation and the provisions of the University Service Charter (https://www.unich.it/sites/default/files/2024-02/carta_dei_servizi_0.pdf), subject to prior agreement with the course instructor. To request compensatory and dispensatory measures, students must contact the CON_TE_STO Service and follow the procedure outlined in the Service Charter.

Students are encouraged to contact the course instructor during the teaching period or, in any case, well in advance of the examination date to obtain information about the examination procedures and the accommodations that may be granted.
