Syllabus

Course Objectives

The course aims to provide students with the theoretical, technical, and methodological knowledge required to correctly perform conventional radiography examinations, integrating the principles of radiographic image formation with radiographic anatomy, patient positioning, projection selection, exposure parameter optimization, and radiation protection.

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

* understand the physical and technological principles underlying X-ray production and radiographic image formation;
* understand the fundamental characteristics of conventional radiography equipment and digital acquisition systems (CR/DR);
* understand how key technical exposure parameters (kV, mAs, source-to-detector distance, collimation, anti-scatter grids, AEC) influence image quality and patient dose;
* understand the terminology regarding positions, projections, and anatomical planes used in radiographic practice;
* master patient positioning and X-ray beam centering techniques for the main conventional radiography examinations;
* identify standard and supplementary radiographic projections for imaging the thorax, abdomen, spine, shoulder and pelvic girdles, and upper and lower limbs;
* correlate examination techniques with radiographic anatomy, recognizing the main anatomical structures depicted in the various projections.
