Abstract:
Hufeland’s work, together with the works by J. C. Hoffbauer, K. H. Gros, F. L. von Zeiller and A. W. Rehberg, contribute to the re - elaboration of law in the complex phase of the relation between the late doctrine of nature law and the codification movement straddling the 18th and 19th centuries. His work can be divided into two periods: in the first period Hufeland addresses his attention to nature law and to the innovations introduced by Kantianism, in the second period he devotes himself to studying history and civil law, without giving up the objective to make both these aspects meet in an encyclopaedic synthesis.
