Syllabus

Course Objectives

LEARNING OBJECTIVES The purpose of the course is to present the problems of Russian literary culture in the 20th century. The main literary phenomena, and literary works of some of the most outstanding poets and novelists of the period will be examined, and their poetics will be highlighted. The aims of the course include: - building on learners's knowledge and understanding of the culture and literature of 20th century Russia. - developing critical and analytical skills. - enhancing learners' understanding of Russian literary texts.

Course Prerequisites

Level B1 of Russian.

Teaching Methods

COURSE STRUCTURE The course is structured in an amount of 48 class hours. It consists in classes of history of literature and literary criticism, and in analysis of the literary works in Russian. Multimedia resource material is used in support of the lectures.

Assessment Methods

COURSE GRADE DETERMINATION End-of-semester assessment consists in an oral examination about the course topics.
