Course Objectives
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
The course is part of the degree programme and aims to provide students with a basic knowledge of Croatian and Serbian literary history of the 20th century, including the main movements and fundamental works of the authors of the period, as well as cultural and historical events of importance. It is an essential part of the degree course and aims at facilitating some of the central objectives of that course that lead to the development of the professional profile and to the subsequent job opportunities envisioned in the degree course description.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OBJECTIVES:
An understanding of the key points of the topics covered.
- Acquisition of analytical and conceptual tools for the linguistic and critical interpretation of literary texts, knowing how to frame them in their cultural and historical-literary context;
- familiarity with the most recent critical theories; understanding how to analyse the structure of a literary text and how to effectively communicate the results of analysis;
- skill in the use of critical tools and in the application of the methodologies learnt in the analysis of literary texts; use of a critical approach to the understanding of non-literary texts and documents.
Knowledge of basic elements of Serbian and Croatian literary civilization; acquisition of philological and critical-literary research methodologies, with particular regard to the ability to critically analyze the literary text.
APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
Development of the capacity for critical processing with reference to the literary text; capacity to connect elements of one's own culture with those of the cultures of other countries; capacity for bibliographic orientation in paper and electronic form; capacity to transpose knowledge in an interdisciplinary way; the ability to productively consult the reference texts and literary works chosen.
MAKING JUDGEMENTS: the development of critical skills for combining interdisciplinary literary knowledge and for interpreting different socio-linguistic and cultural fields, in a diachronic and synchronic perspective; the performance of literary analysis and the identification of dialectical differences; linking the various linguistic, sociolinguistic, historical and cultural aspects.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Acquisition of the ability to express in a complex way the results of the study; ability to communicate effectively and critically contents of a literary nature.
Ability to communicate the contents of the course in a clear and technically adequate way, using a register adapted to the communicative situation.
The development of autonomous learning skills in the study of literary materials with an eye towards interaction with heterogeneous interlocutors in different working contexts.

Teaching Methods
The course is divided into 6 ECTS corresponding to 36 hours of activity carried out annually.
The method of delivery consists of classroom lessons during which the topics of the program will be dealt with and translation exercises in which some of the topics covered in the program will be further clarified.
Seminars will be held on linguistic, translation, sociolinguistic, cultural and historical issues relating to the Serbo-Croatian (B/C/M/S languages) language, literatures and cultures.

Assessment Methods
The learning assessment modality will effectively verify the achievement of the learning objectives and the expected learning outcomes. The assessment will consist of an oral test covering the subjects dealt with in the course. The questions in the test will be based on all of the materials listed in the programme and will measure the extent to which students have learned to reflect on the various issues involved in literary analysis.
