Course Objectives


LEARNING OBJECTIVES The course aims to analyse and deepen the main aspects inherent to the NHS and the management and organisation of health services in laboratory medicine. In particular, the course delves into the aspects inherent to the efficient use of resources, management effectiveness, structure organisation, performance control; in particular, the course deals with the following aspects KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING At the end of the course the student - exemplifies the basic principles of public management and the dynamics at work in public administrations - describes the essential features of the National Health Service - specifies the elements of internal and management control in health care companies - describes the main organisational models in laboratory medicine KNOWLEDGE AND CAPABILITY FOR APPLIED UNDERSTANDING At the end of the course the student - interprets the budget sheet and performance objectives of a laboratory medicine OU

Assessment Methods

Methods of verifying learning:
Written and oral examination
Written test with open questions (12 questions) and grading in thirtieths. The questions are given equal weight (1 point) and include descriptive-conceptual elements (basic principles of business economics and their application to healthcare companies). To pass the test, at least 5 out of 12 questions must be answered correctly (corresponding to a mark of 18 SU 30). The written test lasts 45 minutes. The oral test, which is optional, is on the same subjects as the written test and allows you to accrue up to a maximum of 3 additional points over and above the mark obtained in the written test. In the event of failure to answer the oral questions, the mark for the written test may be reduced by a maximum of 3 points.
The oral test must be taken on the same roll as the written test

Contents


The course contributes to the training of the figure of the laboratory technician by supplementing his or her preparation through the organisational and economic representation of the National Health Service and an in-depth study of the current organisational models of laboratory medicine.
