Syllabus

Course Objectives

The class is designed to provide students with a solid understanding of the History of Christianity as an essential discipline for comprehending the historical dynamics that have shaped world history.
• Knowledge: By the end of the class, students should be able to critically analyze the relationships between Christian Churches and 20th-century totalitarian regimes. They should also develop an understanding of the methodological tools specific to this discipline and explore the various historiographical currents that have addressed the topic. Students will engage in the reading and analysis of historical sources.
• Independent judgment: Students are expected to acquire sufficient skills to analyze the context in which the relationships between Christians and totalitarian regimes developed. They should become capable of understanding and analyzing the sources discussed, critically evaluating them independently, and exploring the related social, cultural, and ethical themes.
• Communication skills: Students should be able to clearly present events and key issues of the history of Christianity in the 20th century using appropriate terminology. To this end, they will be encouraged to enhance their communication skills through active participation and discussion during lessons.
