Syllabus

Course Objectives


To provide students with the basic knowledge and tools required to present topics and studies in the Healthcare and Rehabilitation fields in an effective and engaging manner. By the end of the course, students will be able to:


critically analyse scientific articles;

structure clear, coherent and audience-oriented presentations;

use digital tools to enhance scientific communication;

synthesize complex information in a rigorous but accessible way;

evaluate and provide constructive feedback on peers’ presentations.

Course Prerequisites


Excellent knowledge of the English language and strong critical-thinking skills for reading scientific literature. Familiarity with multimedia tools and digital platforms (e.g., PowerPoint, Google tools, LMS systems) is also beneficial.

Teaching Methods


Interactive and dialogic lectures supported by PowerPoint presentations and digital assessment tools that allow real-time student engagement (Slido, Moodle, etc.). Activities include practical exercises, simulated oral presentations, group work, and guided discussions aimed at enhancing active learning and peer collaboration.

Assessment Methods


Assessment will be graded out of 30. The final evaluation will be based on the student's ability to effectively and comprehensively present a scientific article in the rehabilitation field. The assessment criteria include: completeness of information, clarity of presentation, critical evaluation of results, and feedback from peers receiving the presentation. Intermediate formative tasks may also be included, such as short practice presentations or critical-analysis exercises.

Texts


Scientific articles provided during the lessons and interactive digital tools available online. Additional resources may include international guidelines, methodological references for scientific presentation, and digital platforms supporting active learning.

Contents


The course aims, through a participatory and collaborative approach, to provide students with the tools needed to effectively present and critically evaluate scientific information relevant to the Degree Programme. Key topics will include the fundamentals of scientific communication, strategies for effective presentations, critical appraisal of research articles, and the use of digital tools for analysis, sharing, and discussion of scientific content. Particular attention will be given to developing communication and methodological skills essential for professional practice and scientific dissemination.
