Syllabus

Course Objectives


Understand the basic principles of robotics applied to healthcare, with particular reference to robotic systems used in rehabilitation, care, and clinical support.
Know the fundamentals of telemedicine and telerehabilitation, including the main technologies, digital platforms, and wearable devices used for remote care.
Analyze the main clinical applications of robotics and telemedicine in healthcare professions (motor and cognitive rehabilitation, remote monitoring, follow-up, continuity of care).
Evaluate the advantages, limitations, and critical issues of using advanced technological solutions in healthcare, with particular attention to clinical efficacy, safety, usability, and patient and provider acceptance.
Know the regulatory, ethical, and professional frameworks relating to the use of telemedicine, healthcare data management, privacy, and professional liability.
Integrate robotics and telemedicine technologies into organizational and care models, with a view to innovation, appropriate care, and sustainability of healthcare services.
Develop critical and decision-making skills for the selection and implementation of robotics and telerehabilitation solutions in various clinical and care settings.
Collaborate in multi-professional teams, understanding the roles of the various healthcare professionals and technicians involved in the design and use of advanced technological systems.

Course Prerequisites


Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, with particular emphasis on the musculoskeletal system and the central and peripheral nervous systems.
Fundamentals of pathology and clinical rehabilitation, including the main functional patterns of motor, sensory, and cognitive disabilities covered in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Principles of functional and rehabilitation assessment, including rating scales, clinical rehabilitation reasoning, and the definition of therapeutic goals.
Basic knowledge of traditional and innovative rehabilitation methodologies and techniques used in various settings (hospital, community, home).
Basic IT skills, including the ability to use digital tools, online platforms, and technological devices commonly used in healthcare.
Introductory elements of healthcare and rehabilitation service organization, with reference to care pathways, continuity of care, and hospital-community integration.
Preliminary knowledge of ethics and professional deontology, particularly regarding patient relations, data protection, and professional liability.

Written exam (30 multiple choice questions + 1 open answer for honors + preparation of a thesis in preparation for the exam).
