Syllabus

Course Objectives



To acquire a historical, stylistic and iconological knowledge of medieval art in Italy and Europe.
To identify and apply the main methodological instruments needed to write a historical and artistic research essay based primarily on a stylistic, iconographical and iconological analysis of an art work and the political and religious context in which it was produced.

To acquire and apply the principle scientific instruments in order to produce a clear, precise and succinct oral presentation of a theme relating to medieval art in Italy and Europe.

Course Prerequisites


It is recommended for students that have already attended the Medieval History course

Teaching Methods


Frontal lectures, written tests, visits of cultural sites and museums

Assessment Methods


Oral exam with marks out of 30, aimed at verifying the ability to expose with clarity and autonomy of judgment the topics presented during the course and then elaborated also through written essays.
