Course Objectives

Psychoanalytic Module
The objective of this course is to equip students with the theoretical and practical knowledge required to conduct clinical consultation interviews with parents and to produce the related report.
Phenomenology Module
1) The main objective of the course is to enhance students' comprehension of mental pathology and to equip them with a relational approach that is beneficial in psychodiagnostic practice as well as in clinical and psychotherapeutic interactions.
2) To enhance the capacity to discern the essential structures of pathology and to develop the competencies for psychopathological interviewing in a clinical setting, with a view to exploring the patient's lived experience.

Course Prerequisites

An understanding of the fundamental principles of dynamic psychology and the primary theories and techniques employed in clinical interviewing.

Teaching Methods

Psychoanalytic Module
A practical exercise will be conducted during the lessons with the objective of providing students with direct experience of conducting an interview with a parent (mother or father) of a pre-school child or adolescent.
Phenomenology Module
The course comprises lectures, guided exercises, discussion of clinical material, and role play.
Students will be invited to contribute their perspectives on the case studies and to engage in simulated interactions with patients, including questions and observations, as described during the lecture.

Assessment Methods

The exam will be the same for attending and non-attending students and will assess both the psychoanalytic and phenomenological modules. It will consist of a written paper containing 30 multiple-choice questions, with one mark awarded for each correct answer. The duration of the examination will be 15 minutes.
Students attending the lectures will be required to write a report on the interview conducted in the psychoanalytic module, following the instructions provided by the lecturers. This report will be assessed as a separate mark, worth a maximum of two points, which will be added to the final mark for the entire Applied Dynamic Psychology module (6 cfu).
