Course Objectives


The course aims to explore epistemological and methodological issues related to empirical research in education. The main objective is to foster the acquisition of theoretical and practical skills needed to analyze educational studies and interventions in order to understand scientific advances in the field.
Upon completion of Module A, students will be able to:

Understand and compare paradigms and approaches in educational research.
Design and conduct educational interventions in a manner consistent with context and objectives.
Use empirical and interpretive tools for the analysis of educational action.
Reflect critically on educational processes, valuing subjectivity and the micro dimension of experiences.
Communicate the results of the intervention in a rigorous, ethical and meaningful way.

Course Prerequisites


Good knowledge of general pedagogy.

Teaching Methods


Module A of the Experimental Pedagogy course will be organized into 48 hours of face-to-face lectures, some of which will include practical exercises and activities of an operational and participatory nature, exercises, analysis of best practices, planning, and seminars.

Assessment Methods


Oral examination and/or written test on Project Work.

Contents


The teaching is divided into two modules (Module A, Experimental Pedagogy 1 - 6 CFU and Module B, Experimental Pedagogy 2 - 3 CFU) that are closely integrated and consequential, allowing for a progressive and in-depth exploration of the topics of experimental research and educational evaluation, with the aim of training future educators and pedagogues capable of designing, implementing and interpreting coherent, ethically grounded and methodologically rigorous educational interventions and evaluations. Experimental pedagogy is understood here not only as the application of research methods, but as an epistemological and professional horizon that values critical reflection, systematic observation, and evidence-based educational intervention. In particular, the Experimental Pedagogy 1 module aims to introduce students to the systematic and in-depth study of empirical research in education, providing theoretical, methodological and operational foundations necessary to design and conduct educational interventions. The course focuses on the analysis of the main research paradigms, highlighting their epistemological specificity, methodological framework and educational implications. Particular attention is paid to the educational contexts of childhood and developmental age, considered as privileged spaces for the observation and understanding of developmental, learning and relational processes.
