Syllabus

Course Objectives


The aim of the course is to explore the main cultural, educational, and pedagogical research models in knowledge and capacity building as well as in educational care practices, through intersectionality and connectdness among disciplines, languages, and teaching and training practices, starting from the main elements of educational philosophy.
The ability to deconstruct educational dimensions and to systemically link educational interferences to theoretical models and practices will be an essential step in comparing local and international educational realities in order to illustrate the resilient narrative of human society, teaching practices, and pedagogical consultancy.

Course Prerequisites


Basis of general pedagogy and philosophy of education.

Teaching Methods


Face-to-face lessons; active learning and participatory methods; best practices; seminars.

Assessment Methods


Oral examination/or written test and a project work.

Contents


The course includes an introductory section on the elements of philosophy of education and the main philosophical approaches that guide the culture of educational research and pedagogical practice.
The monographic section will explore the themes of self-care as a pedagogical a priori and the various languages ​​of care practices in education (narrative and expressive) and in the school setting.
A special focus will be on Foucault's thought in education. Workshops and seminars will introduce Foucault the educator, arguing on the themes of space, time, the body, and care in pedagogical "dispositives".
Considerable attention will be given to the relationship between theory and practice and the contribution of a philosophy of education to the development of critical and reflective professionalisation. In particular, the aesthetic-reflexive dimensions of educational work and pedagogical consultancy will be addressed through the lens of systemic pedagogy and sensitive methodologies.
