Course Objectives


At the end of the course, students will:- have acquired the reading and oral comprehension skills, as well as thewriting and speaking skills of B1 level, and a metalinguistic knowledge ofB1 level- have acquired the theoretical competences in the four topicscorresponding to the four academic articles they need to read (seeBibliography)

Course Prerequisites


In order to access this class, students need to have oral and written comprehension and production skills corresponding to Level A2 of CEFR for Spanish. In order to sit the exam for this class, students must have passed the 1st year exam of Spanish Language.

Teaching Methods


The course consists of: (a) classes held by the instructor(s); (b) practicalsessions held by the lector(s).The classes offered by the instructor(s) are both lectures (aimed atproviding the necessary theoretical background) and seminars (withstudents' active participation).The practical sessions with the lector(s) are highly interactive and arenecessary to acquire the language skills needed to successfully completethe final exam.For these reasons, attendance of both the instructors' and lectors' classesis strongly recommended.

Assessment Methods


LECTUREAttendance at CEL tutorials is strongly recommended for attaining thelanguage proficiency levels required by the Common EuropeanFramework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and passing the finalexam.All information on practice schedules, testing arrangements andreader/CEL receptions are available on the University Language Centerwebsite (https://cla.unich.it/).EXAMThe examination consists of a written part and an oral part. NO PARTIALEXAMS ARE PROVIDED.It will be possible to take the two parts of the exam in different sessions(always in this order: first written, then oral). It will be necessary tocomplete the exam by the last useful session of 2024/2025(January/February 2026).The grade of the written remains valid until the last useful session of A.Y.2024/2025 (January/February 2026).WRITTEN PART.The written examination includes:1) exercises (open and closed) related to B1 level and all topics coveredin class and during the lectorate.2) Questions (open and closed) related to the theory part (4 readings)3) Written productionORAL PART.To enter the oral you must have passed the written part.The oral part will aim to verify, through a dialogue between teacher, lecturer andstudent:- the acquisition of a language level equal to B1 of the EuropeanReference Framework-the acquisition of the basic syntactic structures and vocabularyaddressed in the course of the lectures (all the necessary materials willbe made available throughout the year on the TEAMS reception channel)- the student's comprehension and language processing skills from thecontent of the reading books included in the program (see ReferenceTexts - readings).PLEASE NOTE: The objective of the oral exam is to test the student'slanguage level. The readings are a conversation starter. It is notnecessary to memorize names of characters, dates, or historical context:it is important to be able to 1) tell the story of the novel or short story ina manner acceptable for a B1 level; 2) express opinions regarding thefacts narrated or the characters; 3) identify, from a passage provided bythe teacher, the moment in the story of the novel; 4) more generally, it isnecessary to be able to sustain a B1-level conversation.In the FILE section of the TEAMS channel, students will be able to findadditional documents with practical information about the program, howto prepare for it, and how to take the exam.
