Syllabus

Course Objectives

Knowledge and understanding of seismology and seismic hazard topics. Applying knowledge and understanding to seismic risk. Making judgements and communication skills on seismological themes.

Course Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites.

Teaching Methods


Frontal lessons and computer exercises. Part of the lessons will be delivered via remote teaching through the Teams channel, to encourage participation and reduce travel for students, in order to meet their needs and make lesson planning easier.

Assessment Methods

Short thesis and oral exams. Students will be asked for further information on specific topics addressed during the course, to be summarized in short thesis and ppt presentations. During the in-depth analysis, students will have to use specific calculation codes and their ability to use them will be assessed. The final vote is out of thirty and takes into account the individual study and the oral exam.

Contents

The course aims to acquire the knowledge necessary for the in-depth study of earthquakes and for the assessment of seismic hazard and risk on a regional and local scale.
