Syllabus

Course Objectives

At the end of the Eco Certifications Workshop, the student will have the knowledge and skills to:
- enhance the identity of SMEs through the EU Ecolabel product environmental certification.
- encourage green consumering through comparison and comparative advertising.
- identify and use databases to support life cycle assessment (LCA).
- encourage the development of environmental product declarations (EPD).
- identify the critical points of the product life cycle and improve the environmental profile of the product.
- define the environmental criteria for the different types of certification.
- apply the different environmental labeling systems for products and services.

Course Prerequisites

The Eco Certifications Workshop is a second year course and has no particular prerequisites.

Teaching Methods

The Eco Certifications Workshop is organized in:
- ex-cathedra lectures;
- case study discussion seminars;
- collective reviews and one-to-one meetings;
- meetings with professionals and companies.

Assessment Methods

Type of exam: Oral
Learning assessment procedures: the exam session consists of the presentation of the exercises and the critical discussion of the overall results of the experience carried out during the Workshop and of the application solutions developed.

Contents

As part of the training model of the degree course in Eco Inclusive design, the monodisciplinary teaching of Eco Certifications is an intensive second-year workshop with the function of reinforcing the profiles acquired in the Eco product design and System Design for sustainability laboratories. The Workshop aims to investigate and apply the most up-to-date methods and tools in the field of environmental certification of products and services.
