Syllabus

Course Objectives


The module aims to provide students with the skills, knowledge, and methodological tools necessary to:
- relate the specific characteristics of the composition, structure, and physiology of the main medically relevant bacteria, viruses, and fungi to the onset and progression of infectious diseases
- apply knowledge of bacterial biology to the selection of drugs for antibiotic therapy and infection prevention methods
- understand the methodological approach (pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases) of microbiological diagnosis of infections
- assess occupational biological risk

Assessment Methods


Oral exam to verify the student's preparation. The student's ability to apply knowledge and whether the skills are adequate to support and solve microbiological problems will be evaluated.
