Syllabus

Course Objectives

The course aims to provide the student with the knowledge of qualitative and quantitative analytical methods applicable to the analysis of environmental pollutants present in the air, water and soil matrices. The student will have to demonstrate knowledge of the theoretical and practical aspects associated with the analysis of pollutants, as well as the qualitative and quantitative methods used in the research of the latter in the environment.

Course Prerequisites

To attend and support the Environmental Toxicological Chemical Analysis course, the student must have acquired the basic analytical and organic chemistry.

Teaching Methods

The course is divided into 48 hours of lectures and 40 hours of laboratory exercises. Thematic seminars will integrate the teaching hours provided.

Assessment Methods

Learning at the end of the course will focus on a partial test and a power point presentation on a topic chosen and explored in depth by the student. The student will use scientific databases, such as Scopus and PubMed to prepare the presentation.
Alternatively, the student will take a written and an oral test at the end of the course. Furthermore, the carrying out of practical tests carried out in the laboratory will also constitute an integral part of the evaluation. The final evaluation is considered positive if the student, besides knowing the proposed topics, explains them clearly and appropriatly.
