Course Objectives


The main objective of both modules is to provide students with an overview of the varied Arab world from a literary, historical, geographical, and religious perspective, expression of a civilization made up of different populations that have enriched it over the centuries.

Course Prerequisites


No specific knowledge and skills are required for successful teaching learning.

Teaching Methods


The teaching of module will be structured in 36 hours for 6-credit students and in 48 hours for 8-credit students, divided into 2-hour lessons, based on the academic calendar.
Attendance is optional, although highly recommended.

Assessment Methods


Oral interview.

The program includes two modules: 1) main concepts of Arabic culture; 2) general outlines of classical Arabic literature.
N. B. Students with 6 credits must read one text (a novel or a collection of short stories/poems) of their choise, translated from Arabic into Italian.
Students with 8 credits must read two texts (novels or collections of short stories/poems) of the choise, translated from Arabic into Italian.
For the choice of Arabic texts available in Italian, the teacher will provide a list of recommended readings during the course.
