Course Objectives

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge of the genres, forms, and styles of literary journalism in relation to literary production.

The ability to analyze and interpret complex texts in relation to their historical context and formal rules of composition.

Proficiency in establishing historical and textual connections.

Assessment Methods

Final oral exam. The assessment is divided into 5 areas corresponding to the Dublin Descriptors:

Knowledge and understanding – Mastery of the content; terminological precision; historical, theoretical, and literary references. (0-6 points)

Applying knowledge and understanding – Textual analysis skills. (0-6 points)

Making judgments – Critical thinking; comparison between texts and interpretations. (0-6 points)

Communication skills – Clarity and coherence of the presentation; language appropriate to the concepts discussed. (0-6 points)

Learning skills – Ability to re-elaborate information and establish intertextual connections. (0-6 points)

The 'Literature and Journalism' course aims to deepen the knowledge of various forms of literary journalism over the last two centuries—from the late eighteenth century to the ultra-contemporary era. It analyzes the relationship and cross-pollination between styles, forms, and genres; the dialectic between fiction and factuality, history and narrative; and the methods of constructing narratives and inter-discourse. Topics include New Journalism, the pamphlet, and intermediality, explored through the analysis of works and texts, as well as the historical-critical investigation of the production of representative authors."
