Syllabus

Course Objectives

The course aims at presenting an in-depth overview of the main topics of text linguistics and pragmatics and providing the necessary tools for the analysis of texts. At the end of the course, the student will have learned the main theoretical tools for the study of oral and written texts and will be able to apply them to the analysis of different text types.

Course Prerequisites

Solid knowledge of general linguistics is required

Lectures.

Assessment Methods

Oral exam.
The oral examination assesses the notions acquired, the ability to link them together, competences, capacity for argumentation, relevance and completeness of answers, language property, and the correct use of the technical language of the discipline.

Andorno, Cecilia, Che cos’è la pragmatica linguistica, Roma: Carocci, 2005.
Materials available on the e-learning platform.
Further readings will be indicated during the course.

Contents

The course will introduce the fundamentals of text linguistics and pragmatics and will provide the main theoretical tools for analysing both oral and written texts from a scientific perspective.
