Course Objectives


Understanding the basic principles of computers and operating systems. LEARNING OUTCOMES Knowledge and understanding At the end of the course the student must: * know the main services of operating systems * recognize the main components of a computer system. Applying knowledge and understanding At the end of the course the student will be able to: * interact with operating systems * recognize the components of a computer system. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: At the end of the course the student is able to express concepts using a correct and precise language for computer science. LEARNING SKILLS: At the end of the course the student will be able to read and understand texts on elementary concepts of operating systems and computer architecture.

None.


Teaching Methods


Lectures in the classroom. Exercises also in the computer lab.


Assessment Methods


Written exam (mandatory). In addition to the written exam, there is an oral exam which is mandatory at the discretion of the teacher, or optional, at the student's request. The final grade exam will take into account the grade of the written exam and (eventually) the grade of the oral exam, and it may be either higher or lower than the grade obtained at the written exam.
