Syllabus

Course Objectives


Understanding the basic principles of computer network design and security problems. Learning outcomes Knowledge and understanding - describe the structure of the Internet network - recognize the main communication protocols - identify security issues related to the use of networks. Applying knowledge and understanding - design and configure computer networks - choose communication protocols - evaluate network security.

None.


Teaching Methods


Lectures. Exercises.
Laboratory exercises with the Wireshark packet sniffer.

Assessment Methods


Written exam (mandatory). In addition to the written exam, there is an oral exam which is mandatory at the discretion of the teacher, or optional, at the student's request. The final grade exam will take into account the grade of the written exam and (eventually) the grade of the oral exam, and it may be either higher or lower than the grade obtained at the written exam.
