Course Objectives


The course aims to present a critical history of sociological thought, with a focus on the humanities and social sciences, through a rereading of authors and works through the lens of the concept of utopia.Furthermore, the course aims to present some of the recent currents of debate on current issues.Overall, the course aims to equip students with an adequate foundation in sociological thought and the critical tools for interpreting social phenomena.

The course offers, through the lens of utopia as a concept, idea, and image, a reconstructive and critical overview of sociological thought from its origins to the present day. Major authors, theories, and concepts are presented and discussed, with reference to relevant literature.
