This course aims to:


Provide an in-depth understanding of the major stages of ancient reflection on the verb "to be", from Parmenides to Aristotle.

Critically analyze key philosophical texts by Parmenides, Plato (Sophist), and Aristotle (Metaphysics), highlighting continuities, ruptures, and conceptual transformations.

Develop the ability to read and interpret ancient philosophical texts, both in translation and, when possible, in the original language.

Promote awareness of the central role played by the concept of "being" in the emergence of metaphysics and in the development of Western philosophical thought.

Encourage independent thinking and critical engagement with the major themes of ancient philosophy.
