Syllabus

Course Objectives


The course aims to teach the physical concepts of the mechanics of point particles of rigid bodies and of fluids, with particular emphasis on biomedical applications and expertise in physical principles of biological phenomena. The course also aims to enable the student to solve problems of physics concerning the aforementioned topics. Using examples to problems the student will develop critical analysis skills.


Course Prerequisites


Students are required to know the basics of trigonometry, algebra and mathematics.

Teaching Methods


Lectures supplemented by classroom exercises.

Assessment Methods


The final exam consists of a written part and an oral part.

If the score obtained is less than 18/30 the exam is not passed and must be repeated in its entirety.

If the score obtained is greater than or equal to 18/30, the written exam is supplemented by an oral examination. If after the oral examination the grade is lower than 18/30 the exam must be repeated in its entirety (written part included).

In order to pass the exam, the student must demonstrate knowledge of all the topics of the course program. The student must demonstrate, through the tests described above, to have understood well the concepts covered in the course. The exam will also assess his/her ability to demonstrate the basic principles, the ability to apply to concrete examples, the technological rigor and the appropriateness of technical language.
