Course Objectives

Promote the acquisition of methodological tools for the knowledge, reading and interpretation of the landscape and cultural heritage (material and immaterial), suitable for guiding policies for the protection, enhancement and management of the territory.

Teaching Methods

The teaching activity is divided into a series of theoretical lessons and exercises that follow the order of the topics exposed in the program, with the aid of images (slides) and teaching materials provided to students from time to time . Each lesson will be followed by a short critical discussion on the topics covered in order to verify the students' learning.

Assessment Methods

In addition to the final exam, there are various moments of verification through written, oral, graphic and practical tests for attending students; in the case of students who are unable to attend regularly, different methods of interaction are envisaged to be agreed with the teachers.

The course outlines an overall picture of the history of the landscape, from antiquity to the contemporary age, examined through the analysis of its morphological features and in relation to its multiple relationships with anthropic activity, culture and the methods of representation developed over time. Furthermore, special attention will be paid to the theme of common goods and to the reflections of scholars in the ongoing political debate.

The lessons take place in the classrooms of the Architecture Department of Pescara, Viale Pindaro 42, in the second semester according to the calendar established by the presidency secretariat.
Attendance is not mandatory. However, it is advisable to agree on the preparation with the profesors. The dates and times in which the exam takes place are specified in the degree course calendar. Office hours are after class, but the student can make an appointment on other days as well, subject to notification by e-mail.
