Course Objectives

The aim of the course is to provide the physical principles governing urban climates and the interactions between urban areas and the atmosphere, and the applications of this knowledge to the understanding of the role of habitats in defining air quality and the local and global climate system.

Teaching Methods

Fontal lectures and classroom exercises, manual and digital. Each student will be personally involved in all phases of the program and will be stimulated to develop critical sense towards what he learns.

This course prepares students in the Bachelor of Scienze dell’Habitat Sostenibile by laying a solid foundation in the application of physical and chemical principles of atmospheric phenomena and climate change. Students are introduced to the fundamental concepts and applications of atmospheric science and the Earth's climate system. These topics are covered in a broad but sufficiently in-depth manner to introduce students to the methods used to describe climate phenomena.
