Syllabus

Course Objectives


To know the early stages of human development, the embryological origin of tissues, the significance of stem cells and cell differentiation; to know the morphology of cells and tissues and correlate it closely to function; to understand the structural organization at the microscopic level of the human body, that is at the base of the anatomy and of the physiological and pathological processes and the techniques and equipment used in the Histology laboratory.








Course Prerequisites


Indicated in the integrated course description.








Teaching Methods


Lectures accompanied by digital images directly acquired from human histological preparations and video animations of the main processes described.








Assessment Methods


Oral interview and, upon request, partial written test.

Contents


The module takes into consideration the morphology and functions of human body tissues in physiological conditions with particular attention to the methods of preparation and study of histological samples at a structural (LM) and ultrastructural (EM) level.
