Course Objectives


LEARNING OBJECTIVES The teaching of General Pathology contributes to the realization of the educational objective of the Study Programme in Nursing (Article 3 of the REGULATION "acquisition of adequate preparation in basic disciplines, aimed at better understanding the fundamental elements of physiological and pathological phenomena to which it is directed the preventive and curative activity, as well as the maximum capacity for integration with other types of health care professionals ") providing the student with the scientific basis necessary for the identification not only of diseases but also appropriate preventive and therapeutic approaches to health protection individual and community. In particular, the conceptualization of the disease will be emphasized as a deviation from mechanisms regulating the cellular growth. In particular, the objective will be the knowledge of the main proliferative cellular responses to physical, chemical, biological stimuli. EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES • Knowledge and understanding At the end of the course the student will be able to knowledge and understanding, to the different levels of complexity (molecules, cells, tissues, organism), the etiopathogenetic factors underlying the structural and functional alterations found in neoplastic disease. • Applying knowledge and understanding The student must also be able to apply the knowledge derived from the course, integrated with those deriving from previous courses, to the understanding of the neoplastic pathophysiology. The student will be able to deal with the clinical problem in a rational way both in the diagnostic-therapeutic approach and in the preventive one. SOFT SKILLS • Making judgements The student will be able to collect and interpret data in an autonomous way. • Communication skills The student will be able to communicate information to interlocutors specialist and not. • Learning skills The student, through the methodological criterion, will be able to undertake further studies with a high degree of autonomy.

Course Prerequisites


To the whole understanding of the disciplines is required: knowledge of biology, histology, anatomy, biochemistry, physiology. To have passed the exam of Physiological and Biomedical Sciences.

Teaching Methods


The course will be held through interactive lectures with the aid of iconographic material in Power Point files. Theoretical knowledge will be acquired through attendance at lessons, integrated with the study of recommended texts, handouts and material provided by the teacher, uploaded to the FAD platform and available for consultation via the link relating to the course.

Assessment Methods


The assessment of the learning is based on a multiple choice written test and an oral one. The publicity of the exams is assured and the communication of the final result of the test and its evaluation are published. For the evaluation of the oral exam, the following assessment schedule will be considered: DATA CONTENT: CORRECTNESS AND RELEVANCE DESCRIPTORS: Complete: 30 Extensive: 29-27 Discrete even with some gaps: 26-24 Fully enough: 23-21 Just enough with obvious shortcomings: 20-18 ---------------------- DATA ARGUMENTS: BREADTH AND COHERENCE DESCRIPTORS: Rigorous and documented highlighting ability to use the acquired knowledge and to link it in the argumentation: 30 Precise and detailed: 29-27 Appropriate: 26-24 Fully enough: 23-21 Just enough: 20-18 -------------------------- DATA EXPRESSIVE CORRECTNESS, PROPERTY OF SCIENTIFIC LANGUAGE, COMMUNICATIVE ABILITY DESCRIPTORS Refined and original: 30 Clear, flowing and correct: 29-27 Discrete: 26-24 Sufficient: 23-21 Not fully adequate: 20-18 To pass the exam you must obtain a grade of not less than 18/30. To achieve a score of 30/30 cum laude, the student must demonstrate that he has acquired excellent knowledge of all the topics covered during the course, being able to link them in a logical and coherent way.

Pontieri "Patologia e Fisiopatologia Generale" per i CCLL in Professioni Sanitarie, Piccin, Padova. -Teaching material provided by the teacher with express recommendation to the students to use it only as an aid/guide to the preparation of the exam. It is recalled, in fact, that the use of the recommended General Pathology books (exclusive choice of the student) is essential for a correct, useful and easier preparation of the subject. Students are required to perform all the topics indicated in the program even if not included in the teaching material. Finally, students are warned against the use of photocopies of educational material (presumed printouts of the lessons) ABUSIVELY sold at the copy shops.

To provide knowledge of the main damage response mechanisms and of the genes that play a role in the neoplastic transformation mechanism.
