Syllabus

Course Objectives

The aim of the course is to provide learners with the notions to develop research skills in order to be able to carry out a research project and refine their decision-making skills in the clinical field, using systematically the evidence-based practice.

Teaching Methods

The course has a 40 hours-frontal teaching-structure, divided into 10/12 lessons depending on the academic calendar. Practical exercises are planned during the teaching. Attendance is mandatory. Students who do not reach the minimum number of hours must produce a paper on a topic assigned by the teacher.

Assessment Methods

To assess students’ preparation a oral exam will take place, whose topics will reflect those treated during the course and present in the program. Practical tests conducted during the lessons will not be evaluated for the final test. The exam is considered passed if the student has obtained an evaluation equal to or higher than 18/30. However, the final evaluation will be represented by the weighted average of the assessments obtained in the three modules of the course.

Nursing research is aimed at understanding genetic, physiological or social, behavioral and environmental mechanisms that affect the ability of the person or family to maintain or improve optimal function and reduce the negative effects of the disease. Furthermore, Nursing research offers the basis for the diffusion of a single entity of scientific knowledge which is the foundation of nursing practice, combining training, practice and theory.
