Syllabus

Course Objectives


The intended learning outcomes are formulated in accordance with the Dublin Descriptors and aligned with sections A4.b.1, A4.b.2, and A4.c of the SUA-CdS (Annual Study Course Form) of the Degree Programme.
Knowledge and understanding:- Understand the role, tools and areas of intervention of school psychologists;- Acquire knowledge of evidence-based approaches for promoting positive school climate;- Develop critical awareness on body image and digital intervention in education.
Skills:- Design structured and context-specific psychological interventions in schools;- Apply theoretical knowledge to educational contexts through practical cases, simulations and projects;- Effectively communicate project proposals in written and oral form.
Transversal Competencies:- Exercise independent judgement in choosing intervention strategies;- Communicate and work collaboratively;- Develop self-directed learning and reflective practice.

Course Prerequisites


Basic knowledge of developmental psychology is required.

Teaching Methods


Lectures, case studies, group work, guided discussions.
Workshop and cooperative learning activities.
Use of the e-learning platform for supplementary materials and exercises.

Assessment Methods


The final exam consists of:- An oral interview covering all three parts of the course;- Two project papers, one for Part II and one for Part III, will be discussed during the oral interview. Each paper will be 4–5 pages long and will be divided into four sections (needs analysis, objectives, methodology, evaluation), and will have a final bibliography.
Attending students (with at least 70% attendance) may take three intermediate tests, one for each course part.
The final grade will be calculated as the arithmetic mean of the marks (on a 30-point scale) obtained in each of the three parts. The minimum passing mark for each test is 18/30. Further details will be provided at the beginning of the course.

Note: Teaching materials for Parts II and III will be available on the e-learning platform at the beginning of the second semester.

The course is divided into three parts:
Part I – Introduction to School Psychology- School psychology: definitions, areas of intervention and training profiles- Needs analysis in the school context- Planning at school- Planning a school psychological listening desk
Part II – Promoting a Positive School Climate- Definition and dimensions of the school climate- Intervention strategies to create a positive school climate
Part III – Promoting a Positive Body Image in Adolescence- Body image in adolescence and use of social media- Digital interventions to support body self-esteem in adolescence;
