Syllabus

Course Objectives


The module provides advanced training in clinical psychiatry providing psychopathological instruments for a correct diagnostic classification of mental disorders, problems associated with mental distress and possible therapeutic choices.



1) Graduate will be able to demonstrate advanced knowledge and understanding of psychiatric symptoms and psychopatology of the psychiatric disorders.



2)Graduate will acquired the ability to conduct a psychiatric interview and be able to make a diagnostic hypothesis.



3)Graduate will be able to demonstrate the critical ability in identify and discuss strengths and weaknesses of the international psychiatric classification



4) Graduate will be able to select the better therapeutic choice available for an individualized patient care



5) Graduate will be able to analyze and communicate the knowledge learned on psychiatric disorders to expert and naïve audience.



6) Graduates will be able to reflect on their own performance and make constructive use of feedback. Work independently, and plan work effectively.

Teaching Methods


The course consists of 12 weekly lectures lasting 2 hours each. The lessons are divided into a theoretical part and a practical part in which clinical cases are presented and discussed interactively to consolidate the theoretical knowledge acquired. Attendance is not mandatory, however given the complexity of the topics covered it is recommended to attend the course.




Assessment Methods


Written test with open questions on 3 topics covered in the lectures. The final grade will correspond to the average of the two tests. Exam marks 30/30.
