Syllabus

Course Objectives

The course is part of the training path of the Course of Studies, and is aimed at strengthening English language skills to level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).
The course aims to deepen grammatical structures and to promote greater familiarity with specialized languages, through the reading and analysis of texts of various kinds, with particular attention to those in the psychological field, belonging to different registers and textual typologies. The skills needed to understand, rework and communicate content, especially related to one's own disciplinary area, will be strengthened.

Passed B1 level

Teaching Methods


During the course, thematic reading texts relevant to the study program will be used, and knowledge of the specialized vocabulary covered will be tested.

The written test will be held on Moodle, with all multiple-choice exercises. The test will include a listening comprehension, a reading comprehension, a Cloze test, a word formation exercise and finally a sentence transformation using key word transformation.

Contents

Main grammatical structures: verb tenses (present simple and continuous, state verbs, present perfect simple and continuous, past simple and past continuous, past perfect, used to and would, to be going to, future continuous, future perfect, future perfect continuous), indirect speech, conditionals (zero, first, second and third), comparatives and double comparatives, relative clauses, modal verbs and passive forms. Vocabulary and text comprehension will be based on the thematic readings covered during the course.
