Syllabus

Course Objectives


The main objective of the course is to frame social pedagogy in relation to other disciplines that deal with community work and intervention in the territory within formal, non-formal and informal educational contexts. The aim of the course is to reconstruct its historical evolution through Major Pedagogists’ thinking and identify the educational challenges of current society to which social pedagogy can respond to trace the future of education. To this end, the course will create opportunities for comparison, debate and planning of pedagogical practices to cope poverty and pedagogical frailty.

Face-to-face lessons; active learning; case studies; design of educational intervention; seminars.

Oral examination/or written test with project work.

Contents


The course intends to describe and problematize the relationship between pedagogy and society, answering questions such as: Do educational changes and knowledge building depend on society? How can pedagogy impact the quality of life, peace and emancipation of individuals by creating spaces for care, life-long, life-wide, and life-deep learning and reflection?
The themes of social pedagogy will be addressed with particular attention to community action, the pedagogy of care, health, emergency, deviance and safety, with a look at the educational systems of the future in the perspective of global citizenship education.
