Course Objectives


The teaching provides advanced knowledge of one of the possible areasof intervention for the specialist social worker, in particular ofcommunication as a process of generating and resolving re-generation ofconflicting relational structures and mediation as a further professionaltool for diagnosing complex social needs. (family, school, community,justice) and intervention in their specific conditions (separation-divorce,violence and abuse, adolescence, peer group and bullying, juvenilecriminal offenses, urban insecurity, multicultural integration).Knowledge and ability to understandAt the end of the course, the student must know:- theory and research in Sociology of the conflict;- theory and research in Sociology of interpersonal cultural andcommunicative processes;- communication as a mediation;- social mediation;- national and international configuration of social mediation;- family mediation;- national and international configuration of family mediation;- current topics and future orientations of social and family mediation.Autonomy of judgmentAt the end of the course the student must be able to recognize thecommunicative origin of the conflicts and and the cases in whichmediation can be applied.Communication skillsAt the end of the course the student must know how to use thesociological language of conflict, of communication and the technicallanguage of social mediation.

No specific knowledge and skills are required and no prerequisites are required.

Teaching Methods


The course consists of 36 hours of lessons in the classroom.

Assessment Methods


Learning will be verified through an oral exam. The score ranges from 1 to 30 with honors, according to the following: 1-17 insufficient, 18 -21 sufficent, 22-24 discrete, 25-27 good, 28-29 very good, 30-30 with excellent praise.The examination procedures are the same for attending and non-attending Students.
