Syllabus

Course Objectives


The course aims to explore some significant moments and themes in historiography between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, such as the political, economic, and social evolution that led to the birth and formation of nation-states, along with the search for a new state identity. Particular attention will be paid to the issues of imperialism, nationalism, and the conflicts they generated, as well as a more specific analysis of the development of more direct political participation and the antagonisms created by changing national circumstances.

Course Prerequisites


The course does not require any specific preliminary knowledge necessary to address the planned content.

Teaching Methods


Lectures are planned, accompanied by in-depth seminars on some particularly relevant topics

Assessment Methods


The learning assessment method will be carried out through a written questionnaire.
