Course Objectives

The course aims to provide basic tools for the study of ancient and medieval building construction, enabling students to start an analysis of masonry structures both excavated and preserved in elevation through stratigraphic reading of the elevations and to recognize the main construction systems used in ancient and medieval times.

Teaching Methods

The workshop is organized into a teaching module of 3 ECTS that includes lectures, practical exercises, conferences, and thematic seminars

Assessment Methods

The exam consists of a practical exercise and an oral interview, in which the student must critically illustrate the topics covered in the workshop, leading to a pass/fail grade.
