Syllabus

Course Objectives

KNOWLEDGE:
The course is aimed to create a knowledge framework of heating and conditioning systems in civil buildings. The course will also offer the knowledge about comfort requirements, internal air quality requirements, and energy consumption aspects.
SKILLS:
The student should acquire the ability to design both hydronic and air conditioning systems.

Course Prerequisites

Knowledges of applied thermodynamics and heat transfer

Teaching Methods

Frontal lessons and design of HVAC case studies in preliminary and/or final forms

Assessment Methods

All the course arguments will be verified both by realizing preliminary/final designs and by an oral exam that will test the theoretical basis behind the designs presented.

Contents

The course initially illustrates the comfort and internal air quality theories; subsequently it illustrates the design procedures relative to the heating and climatization methodologies in civil buildings.

All the designs can be realized by teams of work, but each student shall expose and justify the adopted solutions in the oral exam.
Student consultations will be held both in presence and in remote. It will be possible to have consultation hours also out of office hours by preliminary emailing the professor.
