Course Objectives

The general and specific objectives of the discipline are established in line with the objectives of the degree program in which the discipline is included. The course aims to provide students with critical tools to interpret the complexity of geopolitical phenomena and their influence on business strategies. The analysis of historical discontinuities helps to overcome the rigidity of static theoretical models, providing a more nuanced understanding of the dynamics of change in the business world. In addition, the inclusion of a geopolitical perspective enables students to acquire a more conscious and strategic vision, enabling them to face the challenges of a constantly changing global market.

Teaching Methods

Lectures for 36 hours. Use of computer and video-projector. Use of power point. Thematic workshops. Situations room (role play)

Assessment Methods

The final assessment consists of an oral exam on the entire syllabus. The aim is to assess the students’ skills and in their understanding of the issues discussed during the course, in particular the acquisition of critical approaches and the ability to assess the complexity of geopolitical phenomena.
The alignment and correspondence between the objectives of the discipline (general and specific) and the skills and knowledge acquired will be assessed. Skills will be assessed in terms of knowledge, know-how, and interpersonal skills (Dublin objectives). Knowledge: knowledge acquired in the field of geography and geopolitics; Know-how: ability to simulate crisis situations in companies and connect them with geopolitical phenomena, ability to suggest solutions for businesses; Interpersonal skills: ability to suggest solutions.
During the exam 2 or 3 questions will be asked (1 more, depending on the answers to the first two). The examination will last 15/20 minute.
The grading scale ranges from 1 to 30 with honours (cum laude): 1-17 fail; 18-21 sufficient; 22-24 fair; 25-27 good; 28-29 very good; 30-30 with honours (cum lude) excellent.

The program is the same for attending and non-attending students. For attending students, voluntary training on the topics studied are provided for the class, in the form of short PP or at choice; the presentation will be assessed for the final examination.
