Course Objectives


The teaching module deals with the topic of the uniqueness of each territory, analyzing its specificity and distinctive characteristics in order to identify tools and strategies to promote the enhancement of local cultural systems. The project methodology, focused on social inclusion, will have as its output the definition of complex projects that never hide or undersize the local roots from which they arise.

At the end of the "Communication Design for eco-social" teaching module, the student will have the knowledge, skills and capabilities to:
- design, manage and coordinate the design of complex visual artifacts for inclusion and sustainability.
- understand and transform the qualities of the territory into competitive, tangible and intangible communication products.
- carry out the artistic direction of new and virtuous events and projects, to encourage the emergence of local policies for inclusive and sustainable development.
- to conceive, design and develop innovative, analogue, digital, multimedia or transmedia artifacts, for inclusive and sustainable services.
- define the strategic channels for a more effective communication of the context (social, environmental, historical/architectural, artistic/cultural), through the analysis and research of target and market.

Course Prerequisites


The teaching module "Communication Design for eco-social" is integrated in the Communication Design Laboratory. Therefore, the prerequisites indicated for the mentioned Laboratory are applied.

Teaching Methods


The teaching module of Communication Design for Eco-Social is organized in:
- ex-cathedra lessons.
- individual exercises with ongoing assessments.
- collective reviews and one-to-one meetings.
- meetings with companies or local institutions.

Assessment Methods


Type of exam: Oral
Learning assessment procedures:
The integrated teaching module of Communication Design for eco-social provides ongoing evaluations.
The ongoing evaluations obtained by the student in the teaching module contribute to the determination of the final and unique mark of the Laboratory exam.
The examination session consists of the presentation of the project results and the critical discussion of the overall results of the design experience and the innovative communication solutions developed, as a synthesis of the knowledge acquired in the teaching modules of the Laboratory.

The "Communication Design for eco-social" course is the distinctive teaching module of the Communication Design Laboratory. The course is delivered in an integrated frame with the "Cultural Heritage" module.
Specifically, the course proposes the experimentation of an evolved model of Design Process for the definition of a strategic project of visual communication, oriented to the enhancement of local resources through the learning and use of advanced tools and methods for the development of competitive, sustainable and inclusive communication design projects.
