Course Objectives


Upon completion of the Cultural Heritage module, students will have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to:
- understand the tangible and intangible culture of local contexts, based on the most up-to-date national and international theoretical frameworks;
- identify the qualities, forms, and values ​​of heritage culture in relation to environmental and social communication;
- describe the history and value of the cultural, environmental, historical, and artistic heritage of a given local context, identifying processes for protecting, safeguarding, and disseminating local values;
- establish forms of social participation in cultural issues, identifying a reference heritage community for the communication and promotion of local resources.

Course Prerequisites


The Cultural Heritage course is an integrated module within the Communication Design Workshop. Therefore, the prerequisites listed for the aforementioned workshop apply.

Teaching Methods


The Cultural Heritage teaching module is organized into:
- ex-cathedra lectures.
- exercises with ongoing assessments.

Assessment Methods


Type of exam: Oral
Assessment method:
The integrated Cultural Heritage teaching module includes ongoing assessments.
The ongoing assessments obtained by the student in the teaching module contribute to the final grade of the Laboratory exam.
The exam session consists of a presentation of the project results and a critical discussion of the overall results of the project experience and the innovative communication solutions developed, as a synthesis of the knowledge acquired in the Laboratory teaching modules.

Contents


'Cultural Heritage' is the teaching module of the Communication Design Laboratory.
The course is taught in conjunction with Communication Design for Eco-Social.
The module offers a study of the protection and conservation of tangible and intangible cultural heritage.
An overview of the most recent theoretical tools will be presented, with appropriate extensions to the European and international framework, with the aim of identifying a method for analyzing, cataloging, and enhancing local identities, in keeping with the innovative approach of the Communication Design Laboratory.
