Course Objectives


The Design for Inclusion teaching unit, through the presentation of good practices and design experimentation on specific production areas, aims to provide students with the sensitivities, approaches, methods and tools to develop products that intercept and respond to the needs of the largest number of individuals. At the end of the Design for Inclusion unit, the student must know how to: - frame and solve interdisciplinary problems and apply the knowledge acquired in the context of the design process oriented towards the inclusive quality of industrial products. - research and analyze the design issues related to the inclusiveness of the industrial product. - encourage new forms of interaction between the different actors in the production chains and, above all, the evolution of the entrepreneurial culture towards inclusion. - support business teams through the use of experimental tools and methodologies according to the Design for Inclusion approach.

Course Prerequisites


The teaching of Design for Inclusion is an integrated unit in the Inclusive Product Design Laboratory. Therefore, the prerequisites indicated for the aforementioned Laboratory are valid.

Teaching Methods


The Design for Inclusion teaching unit is organized into: - ex-cathedra lectures. - individual exercises with ongoing evaluations. - collective reviews and one-to-one meetings. - meetings with companies.

Assessment Methods


Type of exam: Oral
Methods for verifying learning: the integrated teaching unit of Design for inclusion includes ongoing assessments. The ongoing assessments obtained by the student in the teaching unit contribute to the determination of the final and unique assessment of the Laboratory exam. The examination session consists of the presentation of the project results and the critical discussion of the overall results of the design experience and the innovative product solutions developed, as a synthesis of the knowledge acquired in the teaching units of the Laboratory.

Contents


The Design for Inclusion course is the distinctive teaching unit of the Inclusive Product Design Laboratory. The course is delivered in an integrated form with the Cognitive Neuroscience for Design unit. Specifically, the course describes the main approaches, methods and guidelines of design for inclusion to address the advanced design of inclusive products, also through the presentation and discussion of good practices. The student will be engaged in the development of a new generation of products related to a specific application field, intercepting new trajectories of innovation through the involvement of individuals and the analysis of their usage strategies.
