Syllabus

Course Objectives

The educational objectives of the following module fall within the professional area, specifically preparing the future hygienist for clinical practice. Among the expected outcomes will be the student's ability to handle manual instruments to perform the initial visit and the ability to fill out a clinical and anamnesis file.

Course Prerequisites

The student will need to have a background in human anatomy.

Teaching Methods

There will be some lectures, during which some instruments used for the first visit will be viewed and handled, including a mirror, an explorer, and a periodontal probe.

Assessment Methods

Oral discussion of about 20 minutes. The exam will consist of an oral discussion, during which dental instruments that the student has had the opportunity to use during lessons may be employed. The evaluation parameters will be the ability to organize knowledge discursively, the capacity for critical reasoning on the study conducted, the quality of the presentation - proficiency in the use of specialized vocabulary, and the ability to recognize and effectively use dental instruments. The grade will be expressed in thirtieths.

Teaching materials will be provided directly by the teacher.

Contents

The first year internship lessons will aim to introduce students to clinical activities. They will start to become familiar with the tools used by the dental hygienist and how to handle them.
