Course Objectives

Acquire communication and relational skills with the patient. Understand the importance of medical and dental history. Be able to conduct an initial dental visit focused on oral hygiene. Familiarize yourself with clinical documentation and the dental record.

Course Prerequisites

Basics of biology, physiology, and pathology of the oral cavity

Teaching Methods

There will be face-to-face lessons also based on team-based learning (TBL), and small group work.

Use of Teaching Materials:
Anamnesis sheets.
Simulated medical records.
Demonstrative videos.
Dental hygiene manuals.

Assessment Methods

The internship exam consists of an oral/practical exam in which the student may be asked to handle some tools used by the dental hygienist.

Texts

The teaching material will be provided directly by the teacher.

The internship lessons for the 1st year, 2nd semester will serve to introduce the fundamental principles of the patient approach, from the medical history to the first visit.
