Course Objectives


Knowledge and understanding of concepts:


educational mediation;

educational device;

curriculum, module, session;

design, action, simulation;

teaching with EAS (Episodes of Situated Learning);

authentic assessment and feedback;

educational ecosystem and teacher professionalism.

Applied understanding:Given a learning pathway, the individual is able to identify and describe:


objectives and competences;

cognitive conflict;

teaching strategies and assessment methodologies;

devices and underlying logics.

Independent judgment:


able to evaluate the coherence and balance between objectives, activities, and assessment methodologies;

able to assess the coherence and balance between the various logics underpinning the teaching action;

able to design while taking into account complexity and the possibility of unforeseen events;

able to reflect on their own action within the context and identify potential areas for improvement.

Course Prerequisites


Student understands the interactive relationship between teaching and learning.

Teaching Methods


The course adopts a variety of strategies, including lectures, interactive lectures, and group activities.
Each module will be organised into a structured sequence comprising the following phases:


eliciting cognitive conflict by asking students for their point of view;

presenting situations that highlight the conflict between students’ conceptual frameworks and real-world contexts;

analysing the situations and the critical issues that emerged in the previous phases, drawing on the theoretical perspectives introduced in the course;

deepening and applying knowledge to real school contexts.

Active participation will also be encouraged through the use of digital tools and technologies.

Assessment Methods


Oral examination; intermediate written tests; and practical assessments conducted during the lessons.

Contents


The course aims to explore the most recent theories on Learning Design in fluid and ecosystemic contexts. Through the presentation of design patterns, participants will engage in practical exercises and analyses of tools and artefacts for educational design. The concept of feedback will serve as the guiding thread of the course, with a focus on describing feedback literacy for both students and instructors, including integrated approaches. The digital dimension and the use of AI-based tools contextualised within educational processes will play a key role throughout the learning pathway.
