Syllabus

Course Objectives

In-depth study of the main biochemical–clinical analyses used in the investigation and functional exploration of biological systems.
Understanding of the conceptual workflow for the development and validation of analytical methods aimed at biomarker quantification.

Course Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry Propaedeutics

Teaching Methods

Traditional lesson
Practical lessons in laboratory at CAST (Chieti)

Assessment Methods

Study of a scientific article relevant to the topics covered in the course, presented using PowerPoint before oral exam evaluation.
At the end of the exam, the instructors will assign an evaluation band, which will correspond to a grade on a 30-point scale:

Excellent knowledge and understanding of the topics covered, rigorous argumentation, precise and appropriate use of language, critical depth, and the ability to integrate the acquired knowledge in a coherent and logical manner. Grade: 30/30. If the student, who has achieved this evaluation, has shown wide autonomy of judgment, high communication skills and autonomous learning skills, the laude will be proposed.
Good knowledge and understanding of the topics with some minor inaccuracies and with a good capacity for logical integration and judgment. Grade: 27-29 / 30
Discrete knowledge and understanding of the topics and, despite some gaps in the ability to integrate and apply knowledge. Grade: 24-26 / 30
Knowledge and understanding of the arguments fully sufficient, although there are clear gaps, which are reflected in a reduced capacity for integration, logic and application. Grade: 21-23 / 30
Knowledge and understanding of the topics with serious and evident gaps, with limited integrative and applicative skills, but which also allow the passing of the exam. Grade: 18-20 / 30
