Course Objectives

The course aims at providing the student with a deep knowledge about biotechnologies applied to the laboratory medicine.

Course Prerequisites

Knowledge of the main application techniques in biomedical laboratories

Teaching Methods

Frontal lessons with slide support, integrated with “journal club” sessions for discussion of the most important scientific papers in this field.
Laboratory training.

Assessment Methods

Written and/or Oral test on the entire course program. The test will be passed if the candidate reaches the cut-off score of 18/30.

The course aims to provide notions and training in the field of advanced biotechnology for investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying development and progression of human diseases.
Among the main topics covered in the modules of this course are:
- Traditional and innovative applications of cell cultures
- Techniques for the study of gene expression
- Techniques for the study of signaling networks
